Introducing the Name Generator

The BrandScreen name generator builds name candidates you can actually own, then screens them against trademarks, domains, entities, handles, and search.

We built BrandScreen to answer one question: can you own this name? The name generator exists because of what we kept seeing in the answers. Most names people check are already gone.

So we flipped the order. Instead of checking names you've already fallen for, the generator starts from names you can actually get.

How it works

You describe what you're building. A calm budgeting app for freelancers. A mobile dog grooming service. Whatever it is, in plain words.

The generator returns name candidates built for ownability. Invented words, compounds, and blends that are far less likely to collide with existing trademarks, domains, and registered businesses than the dictionary words everyone fights over.

Then you screen them. Every candidate links straight into a BrandScreen search, which checks it against live USPTO trademarks, domain availability, business entities, social handles, and search competition, and scores it 0 to 100.

Generate, screen, pick. In that order.

Why we built it this way

We screened 375 common English words as brand names. Nearly all of them scored under 20 out of 100. Real words are claimed. The names you can own mostly have to be made.

Making up good names is hard for humans and easy to get wrong. Too weird and nobody can spell it. Too safe and it's taken. The generator aims for the middle: names that pass the say-it-out-loud test and the trademark screen at the same time.
