Our mission
Naming a company or product is one of the earliest, highest-stakes decisions a founder makes — and one of the easiest to get wrong. Teams fall in love with a name, design a logo, print the cards, and only later discover a conflicting trademark or a domain they can't get. We're here to surface those risks at the start, not the end.
BrandScreen exists to make fast, honest knockout screening available to everyone naming something new — so you can spend your energy on the names that are actually worth pursuing.
What BrandScreen does
One search runs every check that matters in the early days of a name and rolls the results into a single report. Instead of juggling a registrar, the USPTO database, a dozen social apps, and a search engine, you get one clear picture of where a name stands.
Trademarks
Exact and similar marks across USPTO classes, so you spot conflicts before filing.
Domains
Availability across .com, .ai, .io, .app and more — at a glance, in one place.
Business entities
Registered LLCs and corporations that may conflict, surfaced by state.
Social handles
Whether the handle is open across the platforms your brand will live on.
Search competition
How crowded the name already is, so you know what you'd be up against.
Brand score + AI review
A single 0–100 score and a plain-English review of what it all means.
Who it's for
BrandScreen is built for the people who name things for a living and the founders doing it for the first time:
- Founders & startups choosing a company or product name and trying to avoid an expensive mistake before launch.
- Agencies & studios running naming sprints for clients who need to compare many candidates quickly and defensibly.
- Product & marketing teams naming features, sub-brands, and launches inside a larger company.
Screening, not clearance
We're deliberate about what BrandScreen is — and what it isn't. It's fast knockout screening designed to de-risk a name early and tell you which candidates deserve a closer look. It is not legal trademark clearance, and it doesn't replace professional advice.
Automated checks are great at catching the obvious problems quickly and cheaply. A qualified trademark attorney is the right partner for the nuanced judgment that comes next. We built BrandScreen to make the first step effortless so the second step is better informed.
Who we are
BrandScreen is built by a small, founder-led team that has spent the last decade building software for the earliest, messiest moments of starting something new.

Erik is a four-time startup builder. He founded TextRecruit, an AI-powered hiring platform acquired by iCIMS in 2018, and Postal, a B2B engagement platform — after early sales-leadership roles at Wrike and Identified (acquired by Workday). Today he's also co-founder and CSO of Navi. He lives in San Luis Obispo, California, and builds tools that take the guesswork out of starting something new — which is exactly why he built BrandScreen.
